Scoring a match

Give each keyword a weight and add up the hits. The highest score above a threshold wins; below the threshold you use the fallback. This is a search engine in ten lines.

Definition and example

Scoring a match is the focus of this lesson. Give each keyword a weight and add up the hits. The highest score above a threshold wins; below the threshold you use the fallback. This is a search engine in ten lines. The task asks you to apply that idea in a small example: What does a weight of 3 mean. Before you run the code, predict what should happen. Then Inspect the printed output and the values your program uses and compare it with your prediction. If the result differs, change one relevant line and run it again. Testing one change at a time makes the cause of a result easier to understand.
